FileMaker Software Transfer Policy for Single-User

FileMaker Software Transfer Policy
for Single-User Customers

This document describes how to transfer the software license for a single-user, retail version of a FileMaker product. For information about transferring a FileMaker volume license as the result of a merger, acquisition, or outsourcing, see "FileMaker Software Transfer for Volume License Customers."

If you reside in the Asia Pacific Region, you must complete and return a Transfer of FileMaker License form when you sell or give away a single-user, retail version of a licensed FileMaker product that is registered in your name. Until FileMaker receives a completed Transfer of FileMaker License form, the product remains licensed to the individual or company to whom it is registered. Once a completed Transfer of FileMaker License form is processed by FileMaker, Inc., the FileMaker software can be registered to the new owner. Registration ensures that the new owner can be recognized as the legal licensee and can receive continued customer service and support.

Note: FileMaker, Inc., prohibits the transfer of educational versions of FileMaker products.

The transfer of a FileMaker license applies to all versions of a product. For example, if you first license FileMaker 5.0, subsequently upgrade to version 7.0, and then decide to transfer the license of version 7.0, you transfer rights to all of your versions of FileMaker, up to and including version 7.0.

The complimentary support period for a product doesn't restart for the new licensee. Any remaining complimentary support is transferred to the new licensee.

If you are transferring a single-user FileMaker license, you must:

  1. Verify that your product is registered by calling FileMaker at 1800 028 316 in Australia or 0800 444 929 in New Zealand or from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand or India please fax +61 2 9438 5947. or email customer_service@filemaker.com.au. (In order for us to transfer the license, it must be registered in your name or Company name.)

  2. Complete the Transfer of FileMaker License form, providing all information requested for both the transferor and the transferee. You can download the form at http://www.filemaker.com.au/downloads/pdf/legal_transfer_Asia.pdf.
