FileMaker Press Release
FMrobot 1.0 for Windows Now Available
Boulder, Colorado - December 7, 2004 - New Millennium
Communications
announces the official commercial release of FMrobot, a tool
which
automates the process of creating tables and fields in FileMaker
Pro 7
databases. FMrobot has become established as a "must-have"
tool for
development in FileMaker Pro 7, even though it has previously only
been
available as a commercial beta product.
There have been many minor bug fixes and enhancements since the
last
published beta release, and the documentation has been
significantly
improved. A complete revision history is available on our web
site and is
included in the documentation as well.
This release is available for Windows only. Considerable
progress has been made on a Macintosh version, and a beta release
is now expected to be available in early 2005. (Yes, the
schedule has slipped slightly, but we
are on track!)
FMrobot can be downloaded for evaluation and can be purchased
at
http://www.newmillennium.com.
A video demo of FMrobot is also available on our web site.

With FMrobot, you can move tables from one FileMaker file to
another, as
well as effectively duplicate tables within a FileMaker 7
file. You can
build a library of "template tables" which you can transfer into
any new
solution, and you can also add fields to an existing table.
Custom functions can be copied from one file to another, making
it
practical to store libraries of custom functions and to add them
to
solution files as needed.
The data source for the field names and definitions is the Database
Design
Report produced by either FileMaker Developer 6 or FileMaker
Developer 7.
It is also possible to create a table based on field definitions
defined in
records in a FileMaker database - please contact New Millennium if
you are
interested in this option.
New tables can be created using all of the fields from another
table or
only selected fields, and fields may be added to existing
tables. Field
names and field types will always be created correctly, as will any
aspects
of the field definitions (calculations, auto-enter values,
validations,
etc.) which do not have other dependencies. For calculations,
if the
necessary dependencies (other fields, etc.) are not all in place,
the
calculation will be "commented out". If any error of this
sort occurs, a
comment is placed in the field comment field. Later, when the
dependencies
have been added, you can simply uncomment the calculation.
FMrobot is $199.95 for a single-user license, and $99.95 for
each
additional user in an organization. Once the Macintosh
version is
available, Windows licenses may be transferred to Macintosh free of
charge.
The upgrade to version 1.0 is free for existing owners, and it can
simply
be downloaded from our site and installed, with no new license key
required.
FMrobot can be downloaded and purchased at
