About the Gang Alternatives Program
The Gang Alternatives Program was founded in 1986 with a vision to
eliminate the base of gang membership by having a generation of
youth say "No" to gangs and "Yes" to positive lifestyle choices.
Through its gang prevention, community clean up, parenting, and
mentoring services, it teaches kids the reality of gang life and
puts them in touch with the alternatives to gang life that are
available to them. Its after school and alternative programs
provide real avenues for young people to grow up free from the
negative influences of gang culture.
