Troi Automatisering releases Troi Encryptor Plug-in 2.0b1 for FileMaker Pro 7

Successor to Troi Coding Plug-in offers industry strength encryption and is compatible with FileMaker 7.

Alphen aan den Rijn, The Netherlands, February 15th, 2005--Troi Automatisering today announced the immediate availability of the first public beta version of Troi Encryptor Plug-in for FileMaker Pro 7.

At the same time Troi has released Troi Coding Plug-in 1.6.2. This version makes use of the 'classic' plug-in API and runs on FileMaker
6 and 5.x.


What is Troi Encryptor Plug-in?

Troi Encryptor Plug-in is a very powerful tool for for securing your FileMaker data, exporting or emailing your data without risk and importing safely back into FileMaker.

All from within FileMaker you can:
- encrypt text or container fields, using the powerful 128 bit Rijndael AES encryption scheme, so that your sensitive data is secure
- export encrypted data that can be sent safely over the Internet, for example via email. No risk that someone will read or change the data while in transit
- use the decryption functions to restore the original information after you have imported the received email or export file back into FileMaker, with the assurance that nobody will have tampered with it
- verify data integrity and sources with MD5 or SHA-1 message digests
- encode text in Base64
- make conversions to and from binary
- compress databases with large text fields

What is new in version 2.0b1?

Troi Encryptor Plug-in 2.0b1 adds these new functions and features:
- industry strength encryption, using the 128 bit Rijndael AES Encryption scheme
- encryption and decryption of container fields, with for example JPEGs in them
- possibility to create MD5 or SHA-11 message digests
- converted to the new External Function API of FileMaker Pro 7
- the plug-in functions now have a size limit of 1 Gb per parameter (up from the - total of 64000 character limit for all parameters in FileMaker 6!)
- each function now supports Unicode characters

Troi Encryptor Plug-in 2.0b1 is compatible with Troi Coding Plug-in
1.6 for FileMaker Pro 6. This means that texts encrypted with Troi Coding Plug-in 1.6 in FileMaker 6, can be decrypted using Troi Encryptor Plug-in in FileMaker 7.

About the beta

This beta version expires 21-March-2005. We expect to release the final version before this date.
A beta version means that some features may not be completely tested or may have bugs. Please be careful, save other work first and test this software using a test database. We do not expect to change the names of functions and the order of parameters, so you can start building solutions with the new Troi Encryptor Plug-in 2.0b1.
However, please do not use this beta version in production databases yet.

A fully functional demo version of Troi Encryptor Plug-in 2.0b1 is available for downloading at Troi's web site at:

Troi Encryptor Plug-in 2.0b1 works with FileMaker Pro 7. The plug-in is available for Mac OS X 10.2.8 or higher and Windows 2000 (Service Pack 6) or Windows XP.

Troi Coding Plug-in 1.6.2 works with FileMaker 5 and 6. The plug-in is available for Mac OS 9.1 or later, including Mac OS X (10.1.5 or later), and for Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4), or Windows XP. The plug-in should also run without problems on any machine that is able to run FileMaker Pro 4.0, FileMaker Pro 4.1 and runtimes from FileMaker Developer Edition 4.0 and later.

Upgrade information

The upgrade is free for all users of Troi Coding Plug-in version 1.6 who bought their license on or after February 1st, 2004. Eligible users will be sent a new registration string in the next few days.

Users who bought a license for Troi Coding Plug-in version 1.6 or earlier before February 1st, 2004 will need to upgrade to use the
2.0b1 version. Upgrading from a single user license is $29 per user.
