FileMaker ODBC/JDBC overview

FileMaker Pro 8, FileMaker Pro 8 Advanced, and FileMaker Server 8 Advanced have the ability to share data via ODBC and JDBC. FileMaker Pro 8 and FileMaker Pro 8 Advanced also have the ability to import data via ODBC. Learn how the ODBC/JDBC capabilities in FileMaker are realized through a series of software components.

FileMaker ODBC import (third-party drivers)

FileMaker Pro 8 has the ability to import data via ODBC from many common applications (including MS-SQL and Oracle), however to enable this data exchange you will need to install the appropriate ODBC Client Drivers for the application you are using as the data source.

On Windows, most ODBC capable applications provide their own ODBC Client Drivers either as part of the install routine, or via their bundled software. Please check with the application provider (Microsoft, Oracle, etc for these drivers).

On the Mac, ODBC Client Drivers are typically provided via 3rd-party providers such as Actual Technologies, Data Direct, etc. For information on ODBC Client Drivers for other Mac applications, please visit the following web sites:
