Bento is here!

If you've ever wished you had a private personal assistant to organise your day, your week, your life or that the genius of FileMaker would work on a smaller scale-then you're going to love Bento!

Bento Box

Bento was developed specifically for individual, personal use. It is a stylish database, with live links to iCal and Address Book to help Mac users organise their lives and keep all their data in sync. Designed to work with Apple's latest operating system, Mac OS X Leopard, Bento is the easiest and fastest way to organise contacts, calendars, projects, events, and more.
With its intuitive iTunes-style interface Bento lets users:

Manage virtually unlimited contact details
Coordinate events, parties, and fundraisers
Track projects, assignments and deadlines
Prioritise things that need to get done
Record hours worked and payments due
Create libraries for music, movies and media
Store files and photos related to projects and events

Meet FileMaker's Youngest Certified Developer

Bobak Kamei, a student from London started using FileMaker while in secondary school for his homework and projects. He then quickly progressed to developing a system for his school library so that his school could manage and track library attendance.

Before he knew it he was 17 years old and a fully certified FileMaker developer, the youngest in the world!

Now 19 years of age, Bobak works part time with Cordis Technologies, a FileMaker Business Alliance member that specialises in developing off-the-shelf and customised applications for both UK and Australian clients. He is also about to undertake a placement in Australia to assist in developing database solutions.

Bobak comments, "I'm really looking forward to moving out to Australia to assist in developing polished database solutions before starting my studies in Mathematics at Cambridge where I have no doubt FileMaker will continue to be a tool I can apply in my studies."

GM's Corner

It has been a fantastic start to the year for FileMaker with the addition to our product family of Bento, the new personal database, that's as easy to use as your Mac. Designed specifically for Mac OS X Leopard, Bento brings all your important information together in one place to help you get organised. Bento has received overwhelmingly positive reviews and has won awards globally from BusinessWeek, MacWorld and MacObserver.com

FileMaker has also kept up its successful momentum, with both FileMaker Pro 9 and FileMaker Server 9 nominated for the Codies, the premier annual software industry awards, as well as receiving great awards from MacNN.

Registration for the FileMaker 2008 Developer Conference in July has opened. It is the world's largest gathering of corporate and independent FileMaker developers, consultants and trainers with more than 1,000 participants expected this year. As well as building your technical skills, attendees will be able to discover what is on the horizon for future versions of FileMaker.

In other news, our local FileMaker Business Alliance (FBA) in Australia is constantly on the lookout for qualified developers and offering great money for the right people. If you are, or know anyone interested, contact them through the website www.filemaker.com.au/fba/index.html
