FileMaker Server 7 Advanced: System Requirements


To install and use FileMaker Server Advanced, you need a CD and the following minimum equipment and software as listed below for both the Web Publishing Engine and the FileMaker Site Assistant and FileMaker CDML Converter tools.

  • Mac OS X (10.3 or 10.2.8 w/ Java 1.4.1 Update 1), Mac OS X Server (10.3 or 10.2.8 w/ Java 1.4.1 Update 1) (Mac OS X FAQ)
  • Apache HTTP Server (the version shipped with your operating system), enabled

Hardware requirements

  • Processor: Apple G4 computer, 500MHz or faster
  • RAM: 256MB
  • Hard Disk: 500MB of free space

Software requirements

  • Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition, or Windows 2000 Server SP4
  • Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) (5.0 for Windows 2000 Server) (6.0 for Windows Server 2003)
  • Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE) 1.4.2 Windows (automatically installed with the Web Publishing Engine)

Minimum hardware requirements

  • Processor: Pentium III computer, 1GHz
  • RAM: 256MB
  • Hard Disk: 500MB of free space

Software requirements

  • Apache HTTP Server (the version shipped with your operating system), enabled

  • Processor: Power Mac G4 1GHz or faster
  • RAM: 512MB total RAM (1GB or more recommended)
  • Hard Disk: 1GB of free space

Software requirements

  • Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition, or Windows 2000 Server SP4
  • Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) (5.0 for Windows 2000 Server) (6.0 for Windows Server 2003)
  • Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE) 1.4.2 Windows (automatically installed with the Web Publishing Engine)

  • Processor: Pentium 4 computer, 2GHz or faster
  • RAM: 512MB total RAM (1GB or more recommended)
  • Hard Disk: 1GB of free space

* Also consider using this set of requirements if you plan to install the Web Publishing Engine and FileMaker Server 7on the same computer.

  • Hard Disk: 100MB of free space
  • For Site Assistant only, network connectivity to the Web Publishing Engine via TCP/IP or installation on the same host as Web Publishing Engine
