Migrating from FileMaker Recruiter 1.1 to 2.0

If you are currently using FileMaker Recruiter 1.1, follow these instructions to make your transition from FileMaker Recruiter 1.1 to FileMaker Recruiter 2.0. If you are using FileMaker Recruiter 1.0, please follow the instructions for migrating from FileMaker Recruiter 1.0 to FileMaker Recruiter 1.1 before subsequently upgrading from FileMaker Recruiter 1.1 to FileMaker Recruiter 2.0.

Importing Data From Version 1.1

The Import from Version 1.1 option allows you to import data from Recruiter 1.1 to Recruiter version 2.0. Before you do so, however, you must export your Recruiter 1.1 data, carefully following the instructions in the procedures below.

NOTE: Open only one FileMaker application when importing data from version 1.1. Shut down all other FileMaker applications to ensure proper functionality. This feature imports data from version 1.1 only. If you have not upgraded from version 1.0 to 1.1, you must do so before you begin this data import procedure.

To export your Recruiter version 1.1 data:

  1. Launch FileMaker Recruiter 1.1.
  2. Navigate to the Admin tab on the Home page.
  3. Select XML as the export format, and then click Export As. A message prompts you to confirm that you want to export all data.
  4. Click OK.
  5. When the export is complete, a message informs you that it was successful.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Exit FileMaker Recruiter 1.1.
  8. Install FileMaker Recruiter 2.0, if you have not already done so.
  9. In your file system, navigate to the Export folder within the FileMaker Recruiter 1.1 folder.
  10. Copy the entire Export folder into the Version 1 Import Data folder within the FileMaker Recruiter 2.0 folder.

Now you are ready to import the data into Recruiter 2.0

To import data from Recruiter 1.1 into Recruiter 2.0:

  1. Launch Recruiter 2.0.
  2. Click Import from Version 1.1. A message informs you that when you import the data, any data currently in the application is deleted.
  3. Click Delete to confirm the deletion of the current data, or click Cancel to abandon the action. Another message prompts you to confirm the action.
  4. Click Delete to continue, or click Cancel to abandon the action. When the import operation is complete, a message informs you that it was successful.
NOTE: If you are using a shared version of Recruiter, the Import from Version 1 feature imports the latest set of exported files created with Recruiter 1.1 on the current computer.
CAUTION: This feature copies the 1.1 data into Recruiter, replacing all current data. Although it is a good idea to run this feature after you upgrade from Recruiter 1.1 to 2.0, this is an extremely radical action, and you should be very cautious before you do it.!
