PHP & iPhone
To publish FileMaker Pro information via the web, and access it through an iPhone or iPod touch, follow these 10 steps:
- Step 1: Download and install FileMaker Pro 10 if you haven't already. You can purchase FileMaker Pro or download a free 30-day trial.
- Step 2: Download and install FileMaker Server 10 or FileMaker Server 10 Advanced if you haven't already. You can purchase FileMaker Server 10 or FileMaker Server 10 Advanced or download a free 30-day trial.
- Step 3:
Use FileMaker Pro 10 to create the database that contains the data that you'd like to publish to the web. Be sure to enable the PHP extended privilege security setting.

- Step 4: Identify a machine that has an IP address and a permanent connection to the Internet.
- Step 5: Configure a web server (Apache included on Mac, IIS included on Windows) so that you can serve a web page.
- Step 6: Upload the FileMaker database created in Step 3 above to create your PHP Site on your FileMaker Server.
- Step 7: Launch the PHP Site Assistant feature in FileMaker Server 10, and connect it to your database.
- Step 8:
Choose your source layout, site type and iPhone theme.

- Step 9:
In the PHP Site Assistant, define which fields will be visible via users' iPhone for each web page that is part of your site.

- Step 10:
Now users can simply type the URL into Safari on their iPhone or iPod touch to view the information that you've published. The FileMaker security model extends to web access, and there is no additional software to install on the users' iPhone or iPod touch mobile devices.
