Arthur Phillip High School develops Total School Solution based on FileMaker Pro 7

Business Challenge

Arthur Phillip High School originally decided to build a database to create and manage staff and student timetables. However, as more data was captured and it became clear how easy it would be to apply it to other projects, the school decided to develop a fully integrated solution to replace all paper-based processes.

This solution would need to be flexible enough to evolve as school processes changed over time, and powerful – yet simple – enough to allow rapid, ongoing, on-site development of new features suggested by teaching and administration staff.

Successful Solution

Arthur Phillip High School’s Total School Solution (TSS) is based on FileMaker Pro 7 and is used by staff for all administrative tasks and reporting throughout the school, including academic reporting, student and curriculum administration, facilities and assets management, and student welfare.

TSS also allows students intranet access to their own and their teachers’ timetables, lists of the year’s assessment tasks and VET course competencies. The solution also works seamlessly with other technologies such as Lasso for the school intranet, Applescript, bar code readers, and a Service USB interface for switching the school bell on and off.
