Save and send records and reports as PDF or Excel files

Whether you want to create an invoice to send to a customer or publish a report to your team, FileMaker makes it easy to create Adobe PDF or Microsoft Excel files from your FileMaker data directly within FileMaker. Export data from a current layout into an Excel worksheet or create a password-protected document using the PDF Maker in FileMaker. With the PDF Options Dialog box, you can set the document, security, and initial view options for the PDF file. FileMaker also lets you create an email with the file attached, so you can share it with others.

Powerful emailing capabilities

Send email messages based on record data to one or many contacts. You can share the contents of virtually any field, including images, documents, Excel files, and more. Choose to add merge fields from your database, such as first and last name, for added personalization. Automate the sending of email messages using the Send Mail script step. For example, you could automate repetitive tasks such as producing and emailing daily sales reports.

Linking and embedding objects (OLE)

OLE is a Microsoft technology that lets you embed graphics, numbers, sounds, or text in many Microsoft applications on the Windows platform. OLE pulls updated data from FileMaker so your spreadsheet, document, or presentation has the most up-to-date information from your FileMaker database. For example, you can use it to easily update a PowerPoint presentation that you use as a management dashboard.
