FileMaker Datagraph widget, designed for anyone who can benefit from a visual interpretation of their FileMaker 7 data, lets Mac OS X Tiger users get bar graph views (up to five bars based on up to five fields of data) of their database records. For example, a tech support manager can instantly check on customer service call transactions in real time (how many customers currently being served and how many customer cases have been closed) using the new FileMaker Datagraph widget. With a glance at the FileMaker Datagraph bar graph on the Tiger Dashboard, an accounts payable clerk can immediately see the status of paid or unpaid invoices.
The FileMaker Automator Actions allow a FileMaker 7 user to easily create custom workflows by dragging items from the Automator Actions Library to the Automator window. A set of Automator Actions based on common FileMaker scripts (such as Perform Script, Show All Records, Close Database, and so on) is provided. FileMaker Automator Actions are also provided to simplify exporting data to Adobe’s popular Indesign Creative Suite design and publishing environment and allow users to publish to InDesign Pict Frames and to InDesign Text Frames. Once a workflow is created, it can be saved for subsequent access or modification.
Which FileMaker 7 products are compatible with FileMaker Datagraph and FileMaker Automator Actions? -
FileMaker Pro 7v3 and FileMaker Developer 7v3 are compatible with FileMaker Datagraph and FileMaker Automator Actions. FileMaker Server 7 Advanced can also be used for FileMaker Datagraph to access data from web-hosted databases.
Are FileMaker Datagraph and FileMaker Automator Actions for FileMaker developers and users of all levels? -
Yes. Each of these tools allows FileMaker users of all levels to take advantage of data in their FileMaker databases in creative new ways.
Does FileMaker Pro 7 work with Spotlight? -
FileMaker products do not currently support Spotlight search capabilities introduced in Tiger.
Since these two offerings are Technology Previews and not certified by FileMaker, should users deploy them with important business critical databases? -
FileMaker Datagraph uses the FileMaker JDBC driver to read information from the database. The JDBC driver has already been certified by FileMaker. Since FileMaker Datagraph will not update any data in a database, it does not put your data at risk. Technology Previews offer users the opportunity to “test drive” exciting new technology as pre-release versions of software without the expectation that the Technology Previews will be made available in the future as commercial software; however, consistent with the applicable Technology Preview Software License, you “… should not use the pre-release software for any development or production purposes.”
Why is FileMaker Datagraph limited to showing only five graphs (or fields from FileMaker)? Is it possible to set up multiple FileMaker Datagraphs?-
Five bar graphs is the practical limit for display within the Dashboard widget size and shape parameters. Multiple FileMaker Datagraph Dashboard widgets may be used, if necessary, to simultaneously display data from more than five fields in a single database. Users can open multiple instances of the FileMaker Datagraph from a single FileMaker Datagraph installation. These FileMaker Datagraph instances can point to the same FileMaker database or can point to different FileMaker databases.
How do I obtain technical support for FileMaker Datagraph and FileMaker Automator Actions?-
FileMaker does not provide technical support or customer assistance for FileMaker Datagraph and FileMaker Automator Actions Technology Previews. Comments, questions, or other correspondence regarding FileMaker Datagraph or FileMaker Automator Actions can be sent by email to tiger@filemaker.com.
Can I use FileMaker Datagraph to display data from files that are web-hosted? -

Are FileMaker Datagraph and FileMaker Automator Actions available worldwide? -
All of the text on the display side of the widget (the front) can be localized by the user. The chart title and the bar graph labels can be set using the configuration interface on the back of the widget. FileMaker Datagraph and FileMaker Automator Actions are currently available in Worldwide English (WWE). The WWE FileMaker Datagraph can display numeric data from fields in databases of other FileMaker supported languages, although the user interface is currently in WWE.
